This afternoon I birded further east areas of Fremont County. When I
stopped to GPS one of the new locations where I found a Williamson's
Sapsucker last week, I was surprised that female was still feeding on that
same tree well into the afternoon. As I drove out onto some county roads I
spotted a juvenile Golden Eagle soaring. I lost it so when I spotted 2
Golden Eagles soaring together I expected one to be the juvenile. I was
surprised that both were adults, soaring together possibly as part of some
courtship behavior--a 3 Golden Eagle afternoon! Unfortunately they were all
too distant for good photos.

Then I saw 2 Red-tailed Hawks flying together near some low cliffs, then
soaring higher above, followed by a series of dives and ascents by one of
the hawks--apparently courtship behavior. They then landed in a nearby tree
followed by a third Red-tailed Hawk that perched in the same tree. This
didn't last long as one of the Red-tails attacked the apparent interloper.
The fight was brief and the apparent victor flew off with the female,
neither combatant appearing injured. I got photos of some of the short
fight and have uploaded them onto my
BirdsAndNature<http://BirdsAndNature.blogspot.com>blog. I also found
am immature Snow Goose (in probably Basic I plumage)
with a small flock of Canada Geese. Very nice afternoon.
