Hi COBirders,

One might think that the strong SE winds we've had here for a week might bring
some migrating raptors. Still not the case.

Thursday 3/24 - one Migrating Bald Eagle adult, and local Redtailed Hawks,
Prairie Falcon and Golden Eagle.

Friday 3/25- no migrants, only one local Redtail, one perched Prairie Falcon,
and one soaring Golden Eagle.

The other foothills species continue to be seen daily- White-throated Swift, W
Bluebirds, Townsend's Solitaire, all the corvids, WB Nuthatch, mixed
chickadees, and yesterday my FOS Chipping Sparrow singing somewhere on the
slope,

The regular sights that I have been seeing daily are Rocky Mountain Bighorn
Sheep on the scar. Average about 18 at a time - all ewes and yearlings.
Yesterday 32 sheep, still no rams with them. For a while it seemed that they
were pretty skittish after having 9 of their number removed to the Hayman Burn
area - but they seem pretty tame now, allowing hikers to get pretty close.

Also, yesterday, a bunch of helium balloons went by - looked like a little kids
birthday bouquet that got away. The scrub jays didn't appreciate them at all.

Good birding,
Steve Brown
