Greetings
Today, Chris Nunes and I toured watery spots in Boulder, Weld, and Larimer Counties Highlights include 1) Adult Krider's RT Hawk flying east in NW Lafayette, near Arapahoe and 95th. Managed to get fairly good photos. 2) GC Sparrow continues at N Teller Lake near parking area. With WC Sparrows there 3) At Black Hollow Reservoir, Weld, there was a 1st cycle Thayer's Gull and 2 apparently 2nd cycle Lesser Black-backed Gulls (ID certain, age probable) 4) Tons of birds at Fossil Creek Reservoir included 2 female Greater Scaup (same as a couple weeks ago?), several RB Mergansers and >40 Horned Grebes as well as nearly 200 Bufflehead and hundreds of freshly arrived Ruddy Ducks. 5) 9 Great Egrets are now off of Weld 7, the entry road to St Vrain St Pk... to the left, before the road bends sharply right. 6) Duck Lake in Larimer County had nearly 100 Canvasback 7) About right on time, our first Lincoln's Sparrow of the spring was near Union Res Park, just to the south along a drainage ditch. Sorry if not all of this is terribly interesting. Still getting a feel for what is unusual (number and date wise, particularly) and what is not.
