HI, folks,

Sudden fallout of sparrows in our backyard; mixed flock of hundreds. I'd
guess about 300 in the wink of an eye, mostly white-crowned, Brewer's,
chipping.

Gregory Canyon was gloomy but interesting this morning, with all usual
suspects (including my FOY plumbeous vireo, black-headed grosbeaks, gray
catbirds and an oddly placed gray flycatcher (along with the more ordinary
dusky & Hammond's). Mtn chickadees were mating; robins on the nest. Jon T
will no doubt post his list soon, and I bet he got the Unusual suspects if
there were any. Sandra Laursen reports western bluebird on Shanahan Ridge, &
other discoveries more or less like mine. Pretty good day!

The whole foothills--and now prairie--area near Boulder has green-tailed
towhees hopping around and singing like crazy. Everybody's twitterpated. If
it weren't so dreary it would be fun. Heck, it's fun anyway.

The little black-chinned hummingbird continues to frequent our feeder. Often
he sits on a plant hanger under the deck overhang, out of the weather,
shivering. I sit before my computer drinking hot tea and I shiver.

Good birding to all.
Linda
