All,

John Vanderpoel and I birded the Pawnee Grasslands yesterday. Highlights were both Longspurs (photos at http://www.bigyear2011.com/), and all the expected Sparrows (including singing Brewer's, Cassin's and Grasshopper).

We also found a group of 12 Mountain Plovers on the north side of CR 96 (Murphy's Pasture Road) about 1/4 mile west of CR 69. Most of this group were adults, but there were 3 or 4 young at various stages of growth. This is a good sized group of Plovers; the largest I've seen on the Pawnee,

Cheers, Peter Gent.
