I saw an apparent female Western Tanager on the Canon City Riverwalk this
morning but it didn't look quite right so I got several photos. These
photos show that this bird has only 1 wing bar instead of two. And it's
beak appears larger than what is typically seen on Western Tanagers plus the
coloration is not as specified on *Birds of North America *online (or
Sibley's or most photos on internet I looked at). There are records of
hybridization of tanagers and I wonder if this bird might be a hybrid. The
photos can be seen on my
BirdsAndNature<http://birdsandnature.blogspot.com/>blog. I welcome
any feedback.

Re: hybird phoebes, the second hybrid juvenile came across the river to
only 30 feet away from me this morning but hung out under overhanging
branches so could not get a photo or even a good look. I subsequently found
the first hybrid juvenile (likely developmentally older) just over a quarter
mile downstream and apparently on it's own.
