This is from National Audubon Society today:
<<Conservation programs targeted by this bill, HR 2584, protect our National
Parks, Refuges and other wildlife areas. The cuts run the gamut, but among
the most alarming are *dramatic reductions to State and Tribal Wildlife
Grants* and the *complete elimination of the Neotropical Migratory Bird
Conservation Fund*...The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Fund is a
small-dollar program that has *huge benefits for migratory species*, with a
proven track record of reversing habitat loss and advancing conservation
strategies for songbirds and other migratory species.

But Wait—There's More
*The Extinction Rider to this bill is the most sweeping attempt in recent
history to gut the Endangered Species Act*, paralyzing our nation’s ability
to protect hundreds of imperiled species. The rider prevents the U.S. Fish &
Wildlife Service (USFWS) from spending any money to implement some of the
most crucial sections of the Endangered Species Act, jeopardizing America’s
natural heritage for all future generations.

>*We expect the House to vote on this bill tomorrow. (Wednesday)* so please
send your Congressperson an email TODAY>

This strikes at the heart of what we enjoy--if conservation funding for
these birds is slashed or eliminated many species will be at risk of decline
or in the case of T&E species such as Lesser Prairie-Chicken (still a
candidate species) and Gunnison Sage-Grouse we could see their extinction in
our Colorado during our lifetimes (though I don't likely have that many
decades to go, neither do either of these two species in this state). Plus
everyone who wants their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren to be
able to enjoy the birds they enjoy, this is the time to act.

You can EASILY send a message to your Congressperson via this online Audubon
alert
site<http://www.audubonaction.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=14181.0&printer_friendly=1>---you
can send a message from there in less than 5 minutes so please tell
your Congressperson you enjoy birds and want to see them conserved so vote
against HR2584.
