Monday my wife commented that she heard a strange bird. I didn't pay much attention as we get our share of strange birds sounds. Today, Tuesday, as I was putting the lawn mower away early this afternoon & heard the same sound, a rusty gate note then a short husky robin snippet, repeated. I'm a casual birder so excuse the descriptions. It was moving around it an ash tree. It was in the shadows about 50 feet away but I got a very good look at size (robin) head (large with dark mask) and beak (short hooked). Color was grey & black and I got just an impression barring on the throat. It went through its repertoire in two more trees over the course of a half hour. I'll have the camcorder out and ready for the next few days. This was in the vicinity of 75th & Jay Ct to 75th & Kendall St.
