Birders, Like Hugh Kingery, I too have been trying to confirm that CASSIN'S SPARROWS are breeding in my local patch (Boulder Co.). I have been finding dozens of individuals around the grasslands around the City of Boulder this year. Finally, after several attempts to locate evidence of breeding other than sky-larking males, I found a fledgling. I believe this is the 1st breeding confirmation for the County. Here's an awful photo of the little streaky guy next to Dad: http://www.flickr.com/photos/christian_nunes/5999788799/in/photostream Also seen in the general area was an adult CHIPPING SPARROW. No signs of molt in the brief look I had. The crown, at least, seemed to be completely chestnut. A SAGE THRASHER was the first south-bound migrant of this species I have seen this summer. Good birding,
