After several days brimming with car-related woes, I made it to Grand
Junction, and we set up the banding station on Wednesday. We have a large
net array with all-new net placements in interesting and potentially
productive spots. However, our first short week of banding was very slow.
The weather has been beautiful, and the birds have been nowhere to be seen.
Yesterday, we caught four Wilson's Warblers and three White-crowned
Sparrows. Today, we caught one White-crowned Sparrow and one Black-capped
Chickadee. The chickadee was a recapture that was banded here last year.
We're hoping for some bad weather in the near future!
