Greetings All,

At about 3 pm, on my way out of town, I thought that the horse stables at Dry
Gulch Road and US 34 might be worth a peek. For most of May-Oct, this spot
swarms with blackbirds, including Yellow-headed this spring.

In any case, there were but three blackbirds there this afternoon, a pair of
Brewer's and an immature RUSTY BLACKBIRD.

-- and p.s. : Yes, I did once watch an adult Pomarine Jaeger take out a
Laughing Gull on the Texas Coast. The hit was pretty amazing, like a defensive
end blindsiding a quarterback in football. The Laughing Gull did manage to
survive, as dozens of its comrades attacked the jaeger as it beat on the gull.
Nature, red in beak and webbing.
