A re-visit to the Handicapped Fisherman's bridge early this am turned
up the Pomarine Jaeger almost immediately; it was in flight for the
entire 45 min- 1 hr that we stayed, except for one brief water
landing. It entered into a couple or three skirmishes with gulls, but
generally just flew long circles around the dam.

Across Wads from the Chatfield West Entrance, we visited the pond at
Trailmark Park. Upon arrival were a dozen or so Bufflehead, 8 Ring-
necked ducks, many Gadwall and Shovelers, and maybe 6 Canada Geese.
Over the following half hour, approx 2000-2500 Canada/Cackling Geese
showed up. Not a single group failed to come in and land. There was
one adult and one juv Snow Geese in the group.

'Bleating and bubbling they fell on the lake with a scream
Wave upon wave of demented avengers marched cheerfully
out of obscurity into the dream.'

Sorry-- Couldn't help hearing that repeating in my head as we
watched. But I digress.

When the entire group burst into agitated honking, we assumed a
possible raptor overhead, and thanks to the Geese's tip-off, we were
able to look up and see a beautiful light-medium Ferruginous Hawk
soaring overhead.

We also saw Red-tails at Chatfield, a Cooper's on a light pole near
Kipling and Morrison, and an adult Bald Eagle over Smith Res this
morning.
