Patty Echelmeyer and I found a Barrow's pair in placid water on the Platte near the pair of green metal benches between the UP bridge and the green and white water tower. Their proximity to the near shore and many Common Goldeneye gave us a rare opportunity to observe the magnitude of the contrast between the puffy, undercut mane; steep forehead and bright yellow bill of the Barrow's female and the same features in the Common.
