Joey Kellner called and asked me to post that he and Dave Leatherman saw the Dinosaur Ridge roadrunner today about 3:45, as it moved up the ridge from below Alameda, crossed the road and on up the ridge toward the top. The road crossing site was near three white posts that mark a drain under the road, roughly 75 yards below the hairpin turn at the top of the road. Several birders kept watch during what used to be its usual 12:00 to 2:15 time slot, without seeing it. It has been more reliable after 2:45 PM lately. Joey thought that if I posted this sighting, some out of town birders would take heart and try again.
Joe Roller, Denver PS Several people have had trouble following previous directions to the site, so here is a simpler version. Go west on I-70 and take the MORRISON ROAD exit and proceed south on that road (aka Road 93). After ABOUT .5 miles watch for an angled turn onto Alameda Avenue. Park in one of the six places at that intersection, and walk up the Alameda to where the metal guardrail ends or where those 3 white pipes can be found on the left side of the road. Watch, wait, repeat. Good luck. FORGET ANYTHING you read about the Stegosaurus Lot. Forget about C-470. Please notify me privately or post to cobirds the exact place and hour it is seen, so we can continue to keep track of the best place and times to try for it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
