Hi all: My wife Lisa and I birded SE Colorado the past few days. We appreciated being shown the Philadelphia Vireo by Joey Kellner and Glen Walbek and group on Friday morning. What a bird! Shortly after they left, Lisa and I found a male Painted Bunting (Baca Cty) in the thickets south of the turnaround loop. It was singing heartily on Friday morning, but a return trip today had nothing singing or moving in the cold drizzle.
Other highlites of the trip include Two Buttes (Baca Cty): Northern Waterthrush, Lazuli Bunting (female), White-eyed Vireo, many Orchard Orioles Hasty Campground (Bent): American Redstart (female), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (female), and Indigo Bunting (female), Swainsons Thrush Nee Noshe Reservoir (Kiowa Cty): Chestnut-sided Warbler (male), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (male) Blue Lake (Bent Cty): Surf Scoter (male) Lamar CC (Prowers Cty): Cardinal and Northern Waterthrush Ended up with 128 species in not the best of birding conditions (wind, cold, heat...). Where is the rest of the migration???? John Rawinski Monte Vista -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
