Banding activity low; breeding bird activity high.  Caught a Gray Catbird
with a brood patch today - a first during spring banding.  The Black-chinned
Hummer is on the nest most of the morning; she left only briefly and
returned with some additional nesting material.  Banded today:

 

Western Wood-pewee 1

House Wren                       2

Gray Catbird                       1

Yellow Warbler                 4

Yellow-breasted Chat    1

Red-winged Blackbird    1

 

This last weekend is going to be HOT (as in temperature...)  If you'd like
your last fix of birds in the hand before fall banding, come early...Given
the weather forecasts, we may be closing earlier than usual due to heat...
