I took a big loop through Boulder County today and while I had lots of species (69), not that many of special note. The family of 5 Tundra Swans were at Sombrero Marsh this morning and the Cattle Egret was at Walden Ponds (all previously reported). Hawthorne Gully had no Cardinals and I found only a few birds of the usual types (Clark's Nutcracker, Pine Grosbeak, Pine Siskin) at mountain sites like Ward and Allenspark. Other than that I can report only a Merlin on County Line Rd. SW of Union Res. No loons, no scoters, no non-killdeer shorebirds, only the four most expected gulls and grebes. Bill Kaempfer, Boulder
