*ADAMS COUNTY:*
--8 Swans were reported by Beltz at Barr Lake on March 7. They were too
far out to id.
*ARAPAHOE COUNTY:*
--On March 1, Walbek reported 2 Glaucous Gulls (1 ad, 1 1-st cyc), 5 Lesser
Black-backed Gulls (3 ad, 1 1-st cyc, 1 2nd-cyc), and 2 Thayer's Gulls at
Cherry Creek. On March 3, Walbek reported the following at Cherry Creek
Reservoir: 1 Glaucous Gull (1st-cyc), 4 ad Lesser Black-backed Gulls,
Thayer's Gulls (4 ad, 2 1-st cyc) and 1-st cyc Kumlien's ICELAND GULL. On
March 8, Walbek reported the following at Cherry Creek Reservoir: 1 ad MEW
GULL, 1 1-st cyc ICELAND GULL, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (3 ad, 1
4th-cyc, 1 1-st cyc), 3 Glaucous Gulls (1 ad 1 4th-cyc, 1 2nd-cyc).
--A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Hudak at Centennial Park on March 5. The
bird was on the N side of oxbow lake in low shore shrubbery.

*ARAPAHOE/JEFFERSON COUNTIES:*
--Two Long-tailed Ducks were reported by Morris at South Platte Reservoir
on March 2. On March 6, Kibbe reported the 2 Long-tailed Ducks were on the
west (Jefferson) side of South Platte Reservoir.
*BACA COUNTY:*
--On February 23 at Two Buttes SWA below the dam, Gordon reported 2
Harris's Sparrows, White-throated Sparrow, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW and
Curve-billed Thrasher. On February 25, Leatherman reported 1 Harris's
Sparrow and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW in first 100 yards of road that goes
down from north end of Two Buttes Res dam to area E of dam which includes
pond called Black Hole. On March 2, Leatherman reported that many birders
saw the 2 Harris's Sparrows and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Two Buttes.
*BENT COUNTY:*
--On March 1, Linda Groat reported HOARY REDPOLL coming to her feeder in
eastern Bent County. Please contact her at towhee1 At live.com for
details. Leatherman reported that the HOARY REDPOLL was seen on March 2 by
many birders.
*BOULDER COUNTY:*
--On March 1, Fink reported a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings on Audubon
Ave across from the high school in Niwot.
--On March 3, Matheus reported 8 Bohemian Waxwings in Gunbarrel on White
Rock Circle.
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Burke in Gunbarrel on February 28.
It was seen on White Rock Circle, 2 houses down from Spine Road. A
White-winged Dove was reported by Kaempfer at Spine & Wellington in
Gunbarrel on March 2.
--9 Tundra Swans were reported by Hundertmark at Walden Ponds on March 2.
Kaempfer reported 3 Tundra Swans at Valmont Reservoir on March 2. On
March 5, Rynes reported 12 Tundra Swans at Cottonwood Marsh. On March 6,
Waltman reported 12 Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds and 12 Tundra Swans at
Clover Basin Reservoir near Longmont. On March 9, Kaempfer reported 12
Tundra Swans at Walden Ponds.
--2 Bohemian Waxwings were reported by Romain near Waneka Lake in
Lafayette at the intersection of High Country Drive and Waneka Lake Drive
on March 2.
--An ad MEW GULL was reported by Dowell at Golden Ponds in Longmont on
March 3.
--A calling Chihuahuan Raven was reported by Hansley in Louisville on March
7.
--Kaempfer reported that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW has returned to the
Teller Farm parking lot on March 9.
*DELTA COUNTY:*
--8 Tundra Swans were reported by Horn at Fruitgrowers Reservoir (also know
as Hart's Basin) on March 5. On March 6, Fenton
looked for the Tundra Swans at Fruitgrowers Reservoir but did not find
them. But she found 8 Tundra Swans on a pond across G50 Rd from Escalante
SWA, Hamilton tract on March 6.
*EL PASO COUNTY:*
--The ACORN WOODPECKER found on the Christmas Count continues at Cheyenne
Blvd and Willow Circle in Colorado Springs at least through March 4 as
reported by Roller.
*FREMONT COUNTY:*
--A Rufous-crowned Sparrow was reported by Chartier at Tunnel Drive in
Canon City on March 2.
--Moss reported Bohemian Waxwings feeding on insects at Holcim Wetlands on
March 6. Early on March 7 Percival briefly refound the
Bohemian Waxwings near the Arkansas River on N side of wetlands. Later on
March 7 Moss found 2 Bohemian Waxwings feedng on Russian Olives off the
trail. On March 9, Chartier found 1 Bohemian Waxwing on the N side at
Holcim Wetlands.
--A Rusty Blackbird was reported by Hinds at Holcim Wetlands on March 8.
*HUERFANO COUNTY:*
--2 Harris's Sparrows have been coming to feeders at the Nelders in La
Veta at least through March 2. Contact pollywren AT gmail.com for more
information.
*JACKSON COUNTY:*
--At Moose Visitor Center near Gould on March 5, Leatherman reported 25+
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches including both normal and Hepburn's.
--In Walden at the feeders just W of the old school, Leatherman reported at
least 75 Common Redpolls on March 5.
**
*JEFFERSON COUNTY:*
-- The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at the Red Rocks Trading Post, first reported
by Henwood on Oct 26 and present all winter, was seen again on March 9 by
Hudak.
--A 1st year singing Harris's Sparrow was reported by Parchman on the DFO
field trip to Wheat Ridge Greenbelt on March 3. It was 50 to 100 yards W
of the main parking lot on the N side of the sidewalk that leads to Tabor
Lake.
*LARIMER COUNTY:*
--The flock of redpolls continues to be seen behind the Discovery Museum in
Fort Colllins, located at Cherry and Mason St which is the NW corner of
College and Cherry. Rob Sparks reported on March 8 that 50 Common
Redpolls and a HOARY REDPOLL continue
to be seen behind the museum and its feeders.
--A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Dowell at Lake Loveland on
March 2.
--25 Common Redpolls were reported by Dowell at Cobb Lake SWA on March 2.
*LOGAN COUNTY:*
--At North Sterling Reservoir on March 3, Mlodinow reported 1 1-st cyc
Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Thayer's Gulls, and
at the edge of the S Boat Launch 65 Common Redpolls including 3 HOARY
REDPOLLS.
*MOFFAT COUNTY:*
--23 ad Tundra Swans were reported by Luke on a small pond off of Hwy 13
between S end of Craig and the Yampa River on March 4.
Nearby on the Yampa, Luke also reported about 25 Barrow's Goldeneye on
March 4.
*MORGAN COUNTY:*
--A Tundra Swan was reported by Mlodinow at Jackson Reservoir on March 7.
It is best viewed from the SWA on the N side.
*PUEBLO COUNTY:*
--Percival reported that the Red-throated Loon continues along North Picnic
Road at Pueblo Reservoir at least through March 2.
--2 ACORN WOODPECKERS were reported by Crooks at Pueblo Mountain Park on
March 3.
*WELD COUNTY:*
--2 Red-necked Grebes were reported by Sheeter at Firestone Gravel pits on
the pond closest to Hwy 119 on March 1. Kibbe refound the 2 Red-necked
Grebes at Firestone Gravel pits on March 7.
--Mlodinow reported on March 5 that the Long-tailed Duck continues at
Frederick Rec Area. Kibbe relocated the Long-tailed Duck at Frederick Rec
Area on March 7.
--An ad Thayer's Gull was reported by Dowell at Union Reservoir on March 6.
--A 2nd-cyc Thayer's Gull was reported by Dowell at St Vrain SP on March 6.
--At Windsor Lake on March 7, Mlodinow reported imm Lesser Black-backed
Gull and Thayer's Gull.
The DFO Field Trip for Sunday March 10 will be to Chatfield State Park led
by Randy Lentz (303-680-3381). Meet the leader at the swim beach at 0800.
Bird until noon so lunch is optional. Bring scopes, binoculars, water,
and dress for predicted weather.
