While running this morning I heard a singing Fox Sparrow along the Stewart
Ditch trail at the edge of town. I went back with camera and it had moved
uphill but I was able to get a video in which you can hear it singing. I
listened to recording on Xeno Canto and I think the song most closely
matches the recording of Slate-colored subspecies. Any Fox Sparrow song
experts out there?

Also heard two calling empids and a singing Orange-crowned Warbler. Evening
Grosbeaks and Cassin's Finches have returned to town. Paonia seems to be a
major "staging area" for both species before they head into the Mtns to
breed.

Yesterday evening I heard first Western Kingbird down the road. A few days
earlier than I have had them around yard since moving here in 2005.
