Further to Joe Roller's invitation to a Saturday Mothers Day trip to Phillips 
County, DFO & Denver Audubon invite you to go on any of the Denver area Spring 
Counts this weekend. Mom won't have to spend so much time in the car.  Here's 
the schedule:



                        Saturday, May 11
Waterton. Downstream.4-5 mile hike. Wear long pants (not shorts) due to 
bare-leg-unfriendly plantssuch as poison ivy, thistles, and knapweed.

            Meetat 0600 at Audubon Center/Discovery Pavilion (left turn 
immediately afterturning from Wadsworth(Colo. 121) onto Waterton\Roxborough 
road (4.4 miles south of C470) and beforethe DOW parking lot for Waterton 
Canyon)
 
Chatfield State Park
Leader, Joey Kellner, 303-978-1748.
            Meetat 0600 at West (Deer Creek) entrance to park. State Parks Pass 
required.
 
Lower Bear Creek

Meet at 0600at parking lot on Morrison Road at C470, northwest corner, next to 
the Conocostation. 
 
Barr Lake State Park.  This is a ten-mile, all-day hike around thelake. State 
Parks pass required.

            Callleader if you plan to go. Meet at 0600 at Rocky Mountain Bird 
Observatory. ExitI-76 at Bromley Lane;go east about ΒΌ mile and turn right 
(south) on Lark Bunting Lane, to end of road.
 
                        Sunday,May 12
Barr Lake periphery.This trip does not involve much walking -- good for people 
with limitedmobility or stamina.

            Meetat 0730 on access road to entrance station at Barr Lake State 
Park. 
            
Castlewood Canyon State Park
Leaders: Kirk Huffstater(303-660-9298).
            Meetat 0630 at old entrance. From CO 86, 0.5 miles west of 
Franktown, turn south onCastlewood Canyon Road,go two miles to old entrance. 
State Parks pass required.
