On November 2, Mark Miller reported a Pacific Loon from the Lake Loop. --A MEW GULL and Thayer's Gull were found by Kirkpatrick at Cherry Creek SP on the west side on November 1. --On November 2, from the Yacht Club, Mark Miller reported ad Thayer's Gull and juv MEW GULL. BENT COUNTY: --A Rusty Blackbird was reported by Jeff Jones at Lake Hasty on November 1. --A m EURASIAN WIGEON was reported by Duane Nelson on the south side of John Martin Reservoir on November 4. --8 Rusty Blackbirds were reported by Duane Nelson upstream along the Arkansas River from Hasty Bridge on November 4. BENT/KIOWA COUNTIES: --At Blue Lake (Adobe Creek Reservoir) on October 30, Leatherman reported 3 Dunlin, 1 ad Lesser Black-backed Gull, and heard 5 Lapland Longspur. Access to the reservoir is not easy. On October 31, Leatherman reported 2 f Black Scoters and Lapland Longspurs at Blue Lake. --At Adobe Creek Reservoir on November 4, Duane Nelson reported an adult light-phase PARASITIC JAEGER, adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, Thayer's Gull and heard Chestnut-collared and Lapland Longspurs. BOULDER COUNTY: --A juv LITTLE GULL was reported by Mlodinow at Terry Lake on October 30. Terry Lake is on the east side of 95th a couple of miles N of Hwy 66. On October 31, the LITTLE GULL was reported by Sheeter, DeFonso, Vanderpoel, and Nunes. On November 1, Nick Moore reported that the LITTLE GULL continues at Terry Lake. On November 2, Hundertmark and Witt reported the LITTLE GULL continues at Terry Lake. On November 3, the LITTLE GULL was reported by Vanderpoel around 0800 at McIntosh Lake in Longmont and later at Terry Lake by Keirn and Komar. --A f type Surf Scoter was found by Dowell and reported by Gent at McIntosh Lake on November 4 CHAFFEE COUNTY: --5 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Kellner at Ice Pond in Buena Vista on November 2. On November 3 at Ice Lake, McConnell reported 9 Barrow's Goldeneyes. DELTA COUNTY: --A m Long-tailed Duck was reported by Mitzen at Fruitgrowers Reservoir on October 29 and November 1. DENVER COUNTY: --A Surf Scoter and Black Scoter were reported by Rurik at Ferril Lake in Denver City Park on October 30. They were on the west side. On October 31, the Surf and Black Scoter were reported by Chavez, Hundertmark, McBurney, Jones, Sanders, and Wilberding. On November 1, Schottler reported that the Surf and Black Scoter continue at Ferril Lake. On November 2, Deininger, Hinds, and Miller reported the Black Scoter at Ferril Lake. DOUGLAS/JEFFERSON COUNTIES: --On November 1, Walbek reported 2 Red-necked Grebes along the north shore at Chatfield SP. They are best seen from north marina area. --A Pacific Loon was reported by Walbek at Chatfield SP on November 1 and by Carver on November 2. --A Surf Scoter was reported by Mark Miller at Chatfield SP from the Swim Beach on November 2. EL PASO COUNTY: --A Snow Bunting and a pair of Long-tailed Ducks were reported by Mark Peterson at Big Johnson on November 2. --A pair of Long-tailed Ducks was reported by Drummond at Big Johnson on November 4. --A Pacific Loon was reported by Drummond at Big Johnson on November 4. --2 Red-necked Grebes were reported by Tina Jones at Big Johnson on November 3. LAKE COUNTY: --A Surf Scoter was reported by Kellner at Mount Elbert Forebay on November 2. On November 3, McConnell reported Surf Scoter and a pair of Barrow's Goldeneyes at Mount Elbert Forebay. LA PLATA COUNTY: --An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Morris at Vallecito Reservoir at North Canyon CG on November 2. LARIMER COUNTY: --A BRANT was reported by Scott Baron at Equalizer Lake near Loveland on October 25. Equalizer Lake is near I-25 and US 34, west of Medical Center of the Rockies, access is via CR 24. The BRANT was reported by Steadman, Komar, and Miller on October 26. The BRANT was reported by Tracy P and Derek Hill on October 27. On October 28, Minner-Lee reported that the BRANT showed up mid-morning at the SW corner of Houts Reservoir. On October 29, Shenot reported that the Brant was seen on the W side of Houts Reservoir. On October 30, Kogler reported the Brant was see at Houts Reservoir. The BRANT was reported by Griffin and Wade at Houts Reservoir on October 31. The BRANT was reported by Taylor and Bretting on the the W side of Houts Reservoir on November 1. On November 2, Pautsch, Witt, and Mlodinow reported the BRANT at Houts Reservoir. On November 3, the BRANT was reported by Dunning, Mark Miller, and Wilberding at Houts Reservoir. --A Black Scoter was reported by Keirn at Timnath Reservoir on November 1. On November 3, Shenot reported a f Surf Scoter at Timnath. A Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Lefko at Timnath Reservoir on November 3. --An ad Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Mark Miller at the S end of Equalizer Lake on Nov 3. --3 TUNDRA SWANS were reported by Leatherman at an unnamed body of water just north of N Poudre #3 on November 4. LOGAN COUNTY: --A VERMILION FLYCATCHER was reported by Coyle at the main parking lot in the SW corner of Red Lion SWA on November 2. --4 Red-necked Grebes were reported by Mlodinow at Jumbo Reservoir on November 3. MESA COUNTY: --8 Tundra Swans were reported by McGinley at Highline Lake SP on November 1. PARK COUNTY: --At Eleven Mile Reservoir on November 2, Kellner reported Surf Scoter, Black Scoter, and 2 Lapland Longspur. On November 3, McConnell reported 8+ Barrow's Goldeneyes at Eleven Mile Reservoir. --A Surf Scoter was reported by Kellner at Spinney Mountian Reservoir on November 2. At Spinney Mountain Reservoir on November 3, McConnell reported 2 Surf Scoters. --At Antero Reservoir on November 2, Kellner reported 3 ad male White-winged Scoters. PUEBLO COUNTY: --A Pacific Loon was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir seen from South Shore Marina on November 1. --A 1-st cyc Lesser Black-backed Gull was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir at the South Shore Marina Tires on November 2. --On November 3 at Pueblo Reservoir, Percival reported Dunlin at the South Shore Marina, Pacific Loon, 1-st cyc Lesser Black-backed Gull, and 2 Curve-billed Thrashers. --On November 4, Percival reported Pacific Loon near South Shore Marina of Pueblo Reservoir SEDGWICK COUNTY: --A VARIED THRUSH was reported by Mlodinow in Ovid along the creek that runs east side of town on November 3. WELD COUNTY: --A Red-necked Grebe was reported by Mlodinow at Union Reservoir on October 30. DFO Field Trips:. The DFO Field Trip for Saturday, November 9 will be to South Platte Reservoir and River Trail led by Barbara Shissler and Cindy Valentine (303-589-4431). Meet the leaders at 0800 at parking adjoing the South Platte Reservoir. The Reservoir is just north of Chatfield off of C-470. Take C-470 to the Wadsworth Blvd. exit and turn north onto Wadsworth Blvd. Turn right (east) on Chatfield Way Ave., turn right at the sign that says South Platte Reservoir and follow it around the front of the reservoir parallel to C-470 to the parking lot next to C-470. The reservoir sometimes has unusual migrants. Afterwards, will walk along South Platte River looking for shorebirds and ducks. The walk is 3 -4 miles. Trip will finish at noon. Bring water and a scope if you have one. The DFO Field Trip for Sunday November 10 will be to Castlewood Canyon SP and Kingery's bird feeders led by Hugh and Urling Kingery (303-641-8823). Meet the leaders at 0800 at Hwy 86 and Castewood Canyon Road(CR 51). May bird in the park, the local gravel pits, and other local places depending on bird activity. Walk will involve a 2 mile walk or so, depending on the birds and group. Bring lunch and your State Parks pass. Group will eat lunch while watching the feeders that the Kingery's home.
