Stearns Lake was half covered by ice today from 4 to 5 pm and mostly a
white-cheeked and mallard affair. I did see a couple of common goldeneye
males, one pintail pair, and about ten male common mergansers.

As I turned onto 104th from Dillon, I saw lots of geese in the field to the
west of 104th. Among all the white-cheeked geese were a snow, a greater
white-fronted, and a large hybrid snow-Canada, with a white head with some
blue mottling and pinkish legs. It flew off and I couldn't relocate it
either in the field or on the lake. When I left the field was empty.

There was a headless duck lying on the ice, but no sign of what caused it
to get that way.
