This morning and early afternoon I visited some areas of Park County off
Highway 285 in the watershed of the North Fork of the South Platte.

I found a *Blue Jay* (rare for the county) at Morehead Road near "Bailey
Park" west of the town of Bailey. An *Am. Dipper* and a *Bald Eagle* were
in this area, too. Approaching Santa Maria northwest of Shawnee I saw 4 *Tundra
Swans* flying low up the valley and they came to land in a small area of
still open water on some mostly frozen-over ponds near Cline Drive. They
were not there when I came back through about 1.5 hours later, though.

Along County Road 58 I encountered a swirling flock of rosy-finches that
had about 100 *Gray-crowned* and 30 *Brown-capped*. Nearby Timberline
Campground had 2 *Pine Grosbeaks*.

Stops along CR 64 produced a HY *Harris's Sparrow*,.another *Pine Grosbeak*,
Type 2 *Red Crossbills*, *Northern Pygmy-Owl*, and *Evening Grosbeaks*.

Bailey had an *American Dipper* on the North Fork. Stops along CR 68
had 2 *American
Tree Sparrows*, *Northern Shrike*, *Dusky Grouse*, a flock of *Wild
Turkeys,* and Type 2 and Type 5 *Red Crossbills*.

In JeffCo, Wellington Lake had a female *Red-breasted Merganser*, but few
other waterbirds. Type 4 *Red Crossbills* were northwest of the lake along
Pike NF Road 560.
