The singing Bell's Vireo that I found last Sunday, is still present east of Valco Ponds #3 (and west of the Valco Bridge) in Pueblo, east of Pueblo Reservoir dam, along Highway 96. It probably sings all day long, as it was still singing at 12:45pm today, when it was very warm (they sing all day in the summer in Kansas too). I know of at least five or six birders that were able to see/hear it today. I don't know how often I'll be getting over to this location in June/July (this summer), so if anyone does go there, please let me know if it is still present or not. It would be nice to know how long it sticks around. The location as posted before, is to walk to the last Valco Pond (Valco Pond #3 in my opinion), and listen for it on the south side of the trail, before you each the Valco Bridge. So, from Valco Ponds parking lot, walk between Valco Pond #1 (the by Hwy 96) and Valco Pond #2 (the one closer to the River), and continue past the 3rd pond. It is a closer walk from the Osprey Picnic Area, though some people don't know that way. There really weren't any non-breeding land birds in Rock Canyon/Valco Ponds today, except for a Swainson's Thrush or two. There was a Green Heron, a Black-crowned Night-Heron, and some flyover White-faced Ibis that were seen this morning. Have a good summer everyone! Brandon Percival Pueblo West, CO
