We spent most of the first couple of hours this morning recatching and
checking increases (or not) in the fat and weight of birds we'd banded over
the past few days. Then things shifted a bit and we caught an interesting
assortment of species before the heat shut us down. 31 new birds, 23
recaps. Here's the breakdown of the 31:

Downy Woodpecker 2
Red-shafted Flicker 1 (interestingly, haven't caught one since 2012)
House Wren 1
Swainson's Thrush 1
Hermit Thrush 1
American Robin 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon's 5
Townsend's Warbler 1
Wilson's Warbler 11
Green-tailed Towhee 1
Spotted Towhee 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 2

We are CLOSED tomorrow/Monday. We will then be open daily until our next
closed day, which will be a week from Wednesday, 9/23.

We are open 6 days per week, weather permitting, through Sunday, October
11. We now have almost all of our nets up - the ground at the outer nets is
still muddy, but we are catching birds out there, and we are able to stay
partially open later in the morning because there is more shade at the
outer nets. We are opening nets at 6:30, and will run until noon or
whenever it gets too hot. School groups arrive about 9:30 a.m. most
weekdays. It is wise to come early to beat the school groups and for
more/better birds.
