Dear Cobirders, This is a not a bird sighting, nor is it about a request for money.
My friend Paula Palmer lived in Costa Rica for a number of years, and goes every year. She lived and worked in an indigenous Bribri community. She wrote: My Bribri friend Mauricio Salazar in Costa Rica asked me whether I might be able to bring him a pair of used binoculars for bird watching. Mauricio is the best Bribri culture/nature guide in the Talamanca region, but he has been very ill for the last 6 or 7 years with cancer. He continues to do rounds of chemo, off and on. He told me he would just like to have a pair of binoculars to use for his own pleasure now that he is mostly confined to home. Just wondering if you know anyone who might have an extra pair they are ready to part with? I leave for Costa Rica on March 27. Thanks, Elena, -Paula Please contact her directly: paularpal...@gmail.com <mailto:paularpal...@gmail.com> Thank you in advance for any help. The ABA program that sends binoculars and scopes to Latin America is in a transition period and likely cannot help.
