---On December 21 .5 mile east of intersection of CR 34 and CR UU, Preston
Larimer reported Snowy Owl.  This is in northern Baca County just south of
Prowers county.

BOULDER COUNTY:
---On December 20 at Twin Lakes, Jeff Parks reported Hammond’s Flycatcher.
---On December 18 at Valmont Reservoir Complex, Randy Siebert and Peter
Burke reported Pacific Loon and 3 Red-necked Grebes.  On December 19 at
Valmont Reservoir Complex, Matt Hofeditz reported Red-necked Grebe.  On
December 20 at Valmont Reservoir Complex, Peter Gent and Phoenix Swan
reported Pacific Loon and 3 Red-necked Grebes.  On December 22 at Valmont
Reservoir Complex, Jeff Parks reported Pacific Loon, 3 Red-necked Grebes.

Malenich reported Black-throated Green Warbler.  Addresses were 777 29th St
and 770 28th St.
---On December 23 at Stearn’s Lake, Chuck Hundertmark reported Greater

---On December 25 around McCaslin and 100th, Myron Gerhard reported Snowy
Owl.

Barrow’s Goldeneyes and Clark’s Grebe.

reported Slate-colored Fox Sparrow at the office feeders.

---On December 16 at Marston Reservoir Denver CBC Area 3, Alec Hopping
reported Pacific Loon.  On December 17 at Marston Reservoir Complex West
End, Diane Roberts reported Pacific Loon.  On December 19 at Marston
Reservoir Complex, Eric DeFonso reported Pacific Loon.
---On December 20 at First Creek at Denver Open Space, Doug Kibbe and Elain
Wagner reported Harris’s Sparrow.  On December 24 at First Creek at DEN
Open Space, Alison Hixon reported Harris’s Sparrow.

EL PASO COUNTY:
---On December 21 at S end of Cresterra Blvd, CiCi Lee reported Snow
Bunting; it flew towards Big Johnson.
---On December 21 at 1900 – 2000 Sundown Drive in Colorado Springs, David
Tonnessen reported juv Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
---On December 21 and 22, David Tonnessen reported RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER
(ruber) on Miranda Road in Colorado Springs.  This is a new state record if
accepted.  The sapsucker has been seen on Broadmoor property.  If you want
to photograph the bird on Broadmoor property you need to obtain a photo
permit.  On December 22 Aaron and Pati Driscoll reported the RED-BREASTED
SAPSUCKER on a tree next to Mirada Road.  On December 22 Kevin Ash, and
Glenn Walbek reported the RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER at Broadmoor.  On December
23, Loch Kilpatrick and many other birders reported RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER
on Miranda Road and Broadmoor.  John Drummond reported that a photo permit
is not needed.  On December 24 on Miranda Road, Nick Komar reported
RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER before 0900, then the sapsucker disappeared for a
few hours and was then seen in the afternoon by several birders.  On
December 25 Doug Faulkner and several other birders reported RED-BREASTED
SAPSUCKER on Miranda Road.
---On December 25 at Double tree Hotel Pond, David and John Marvin reported
Greater White-fronted Goose.

FREMONT COUNTY:
---On December 18 on Canon City Riverwalk from Mackenzie Ave to S Raynolds
Ave, Jerry DeBoer reported Spotted Sandpiper.
---On December 19 on Penrose CBC, Mark Peterson reported Red-necked Grebe,
Spotted Sandpiper, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Black
Phoebe, Say’s Phoebe, Common Yellowthroat, Harris’s Sparrow, White-throated
Sparrow, Lincoln’s Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, Rufous-crowned Sparrow, Rusty
Blackbird, Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, Common Redpoll.
---On December 23 at Canon City Valco Ponds, Rich Miller reported m
Eurasian Wigeon on east pond.
---On December 26 at Canon City Valco Ponds, Matt Clark reported Barrow’s
Goldeneye.

JEFFERSON COUNTY:
---On December 16 at One Belmar Place apartments, Bill Eley reported a
Yellow-throated Warbler show up at his feeder in Bldg 640, the warbler has
been visiting a feeder at Bldg 620.  While look for the Yellow-throated
Warbler, Aaron Shipe and Frank Farrell found a Prairied Warbler in bushes
and pines trees across from Bldg 620.  On December 17 at Belmar Place
apartments, Alec Hopping reported Say’s Phoebe, Yellow-rumped (Audubon’s)
Warbler, Prairie Warbler, and Yellow-throated Warbler.  On December 17 at
Belmar Place apartments, Christine Alexander and Renee Casias reported
Say’s Phoebe and Prairie Warbler.  On December 18 at 1 Belmar Place, Scott
Someshoe and many other birders reported Say’s Phoebe, Yellow-rumped
Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Prairie Warbler.  On December 19 at
One Belmar Place pond, Bob Shade, Gary Brower, Gwen Moore, Phoenix Kwan
reported Yellow-rumped Warblers, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Prairie
Warbler.  On December 20 at One Belmar Place, Kevin DeBoer, Mark Obmascik,
Jeff Dawson, and Cynthia Madsen reported Say’s Phoebe, 2 Yellow-rumped
Warblers, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Prairie Warbler.  On December 21 at
One Belmar Place, Nick Moore reported Yellow-rumped Warbler and
Yellow-throated Warbler.  On December 22 at One Belmar Place, Patrick
O’Driscoll reported Yellow-rumped Warbler and Yellow-throated Warbler;
Alison Hixon reported Yellow-rumped Warbler.  On December 23 at  One Belmar
Place, Norm Lewis, Tim Ryan, Doug Kibbe and Mackenzie Goldthwaite reported
2 Yellow-rumped Warblers, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Say’s Phoebe.    On
December 24 at One Belmar Place, Chris Wood and Jessie Barry reported 6
Say’s Phoebes and 3 Yellow-rumped Warblers.
---On December 19 at Ken Caryl Valley Blue Grouse Ridge Rd at open space,
David Suddjian reported 13 Red Crossbils (Ponderosa Pine, Type 2) and 1 Red
Crossbill (Lodgepole Type 5).
---On December 22 at Coors Ponds, Bruce Snyder reported Horned Grebe.
---On December 23 near Stanley Lake on light pole at 88th and Queen, Bars
Moore reported Snowy Owl.  On December 24 near Standley Lake (south) at
88th Pkwy and Newcombe, Victoria Baldwin reported Snowy Owl.  Please view
from a distance.  On December 25, the Snowy Owl was reported by Bez
Bezuidenhout at Colorado Hill Open Space which is NW of Standley Lake, then
many birders reported Snowy Owl on 100th Ave on the north side of Standley
Lake.  There was a report of a Snowy Owl in Boulder County around 1100 and
no reports of the owl at that time so I am guessing that the Standley Lake
owl flew to S Boulder County for a short period.  Last report of the Snowy
Owl on December 25 was from South Shore of Standley Lake by Timo Mitzen.
---On December 24 at Belmar Park, Jessie Barry and Chris Wood reported 2
Greater Scaup and Yellow-rumped (Audubon’s) Warbler.
---On December 25 at Chatfield SP Audubon Center and Trails, Jessie Barry
and Chris Wood reported Common Redpoll.
---On December 25 at 2739 Shaffer Pkwy in Littleton, Mike Henwood reported
Say’s Phoebe perched on top of entry at Homewood Suites.

LA PLATA COUNTY:
---On December 20 at Animas River trail---Huck Finn Pond and Hatchery area,
Ryan Votta reported Pacific Wren.

LARIMER COUNTY:
---On December 15 the HARRIS’S HAWK was reported by Walter Wehtje at
Running Deer NA Parking Lot perched in a tree about 250 m away, later
Perched in a tree on S side of Hageman’s Recycling.  Later Robert Beauchamp
reported the HARRIS’S HAWK perched in a tree behind Hageman’s Recycling
Center in a tree behind the main building.    On December 16 the HARRIS’S
HAWK was reported by Kevin DeBoer and several other birders at Hagerman
Recycling Center.  On December 17 behind Hagerman’s Recycling Center, Tom
Behnfield, Mark Chavez, Art Hudak, David Starbuck and Frank Farrell
reported HARRIS’S HAWK.  On December 18 Tom Heinrich and several other
birders reported HARRIS’S HAWK around Hagerman Recycle Center and Welcome
Center.  On December 19 Kevin Keirn reported the HARRIS’S HAWK on the
largest tree at the farmhouse N of Prospect Rd N of Welcome Center.  Many
other birders reported HARRIS’S HAWK in the area around Prospect and the
Welcome Center.  On December 20 in tree in middle of Hagerman Recycle
Center Scott Somershoe reported HARRIS’S HAWK and Mark Amershek reported
HARRIS’S HAWK at Visitor Center.  On December 22, from Welcome Center, John
Shenot, Paul Hurtado, Rob Sparks were able to view HARRIS ‘S HAWK.  The
hawk was seen by several birders.  On December 23, Dave Leatherman and
several other birders reported HARRIS’S HAWK in the area around Visitor
Center and Recycle center.  On December 25, Diane Roberts reported HARRIS’S
HAWK in area near Visitors Center.
---On December 16 at 2270 Cache La Poudre Dr Fort Collins CBC area K,
Georgia Doyle reported Palm Warbler.  On December 17 at Palm Warbler
Stakeout, Andy Bankert, Caroline Olson, Nick Komar, and David Wade reported
Western Palm Warbler.  On December 18 at Palm Warbler Stakeout, Danny
Montalvo, Austin Hess, and Joshua Smith reported Western Palm Warbler.  On
December 19 at Cache La Poudre Dr, Dave Leatherman reported Palm Warbler.
---On December 22 on Big Thompson Rec Trail between Taft and Wilson in
Loveland, Elaine Coley reported Lincoln’s Sparrow and Osprey.
---On December 22 at Lee Martinez Park in Fort Collins, Andy Bankert
reported Gray Catbird.  On December 24 at Lee Martinez Park, Caroline Olson
and Andy Bankert reported Gray Catbird.
---On December 24 at Hamilton Reservoir, Dave Leatherman reported Tundra
Swan.

LINCOLN COUNTY:
---On December 21 at Limon Wetlands and Doug Kissel Pond, Andrew Judd
reported 50 Wild Turkeys.

LOGAN COUNTY:
---On December 20 at North Sterling Reservoir and SP, Norm Lewis reported
Northern Mockingbird.
---On December 20 on I-76 at mm 130, Paul and Janice Sweet reported Snowy
Owl.
---On December 23 at CR 93 just north of S Platte River bridge, Bill
Kaempfer reported Golden-crowned Sparrow on the Crook CBC.  This is 1 mile
N of I-76 on CR 93.  It was associating with Juncos, American Tree
Sparrows, and White-crowned Sparrows.

MESA COUNTY:
---On December 23 at Powderhorn Ski Area, Denise and Mark Vollmar reported
35 Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, 110 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, and 8 Black
Rosy-Finch.

MONTROSE COUNTY:
---On December 29 at Otter Pond in Montrose, Betty Fenton reported Greater
White-fronted Goose.

OTERO COUNTY:
---On December 16 S of La Junta on CR25 S of CR N Robin Bay reported Snowy
Owl.  On December 17 in Comanche National Grassland on CR 803 E of CR 25,
Kim Score reported Snowy Owl.  On December 18 at Junction of GR 802 and CR
25, Dave Leatherman and Janeal Thompson reported Snowy Owl.

OURAY COUNTY:
---On December 19 at Ridgway Reservoir and SP, Aaron Yappert reported Surf
Scoter.

---On December 21 at Booger Red Hill, Diana Beatty reported Northern
Harrier.

WELD COUNTY:
---On December 17 at Windsor Lake, Steve Mlodinow reported 2 Long-tailed
Ducks, 2 Iceland (Thayer’s) Gulls, and 2 Red Crossbill.  On December 18 at
Windsor Lake, Josh Brueing reported Long-tailed Duck, f Barrow’s Goldeneye,
and imm Glaucous Gull.  On December 19 at Windsor Lake, Steve Mlodinow and
Alison Nixon reported Long-tailed Duck.  On December 20 at Windsor Lake,
Jim Nachel reported Greater White-fronted Goose and Long-tailed Duck; Ryan
Graves reported Glaucous Gull.  On December 22 at Windsor Lake, Bert Harris
reported Greater White-fronted Goose.

---On December 22 on CR 5.5 (almost in Kansas) on Bonny CBC, Glenn Walbek
reported 3 Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Rock Wren, 14 Eastern Bluebirds, 19
Lapland Longspurs, 4 Harris’s Sparrows, 16 Common Redpoll.
---On December 22 on CR 3.5 on Bonny CBC, Robert Beauchamp reported
Yellow-rumped (Myrtle) Warbler, 2 Northern Cardinals, and Cassin’s Finch.
---On December 22 at Bonn Reservoir Wagon Wheel CG on Bonny CBC, Austin
Hess reported 5 Mountain Bluebirds.
