Birders, This morning at 9 am when I was putting out the feeders and refilling, I had 3 female birds that at 1st struck me as Cassin's Finches but this isn't the weather that I normally get any Cassin's. I didn't want to flush them as they were in the seed tray and then went to the water so I stood there w/o binos or a camera. I looked at them for several minutes and noted that they were darker than I remembered Cassin's and bigger headed. They were heavily streaked all the way down their sides and the streaking was much more distinct than House Finches. The head pattern really stood out. After they left the water they flew into the trees across the street. I'll watch for them. -- Ira Sanders Golden, CO "My mind is a raging torrent flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives."
