Hi Jared, We are working on the summer issue of Colorado Birds that will include information on the new SWA Pass <https://cpw.state.co.us/aboutus/Pages/News-Release-Details.aspx?NewsID=7734> from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Starting in 2020, CPW required anyone 18 and over to have either a hunting or fishing license to enter any of the 350+ State Wildlife Areas. This generated considerable feedback, particularly from Colorado's birding community including a letter from CFO President Nick Komar, resulting in the creation of the SWA Pass.
CPW has managed the SWAs for hunting and fishing primarily because these were the groups providing funding through licenses. It will be interesting to see how much revenue the new pass generates and what effect that has on CPW management in the future. For more information about the SWA Pass: https://cpw.state.co.us/aboutus/Pages/News-Release-Details.aspx?NewsID=7734 Good birding, Peter Peter Burke Colorado Birds Managing Editor On Wed, May 5, 2021 at 9:12 AM Jared Hamby <r.jaredha...@gmail.com> wrote: > Hey everyone.
