Hi Cobirders
On Nov. 5 I had a brown bird at Lowell Ponds Open Space in Adams County. My
notes say; brown above, pale below, black eye face, bill ivory colored and
cone shaped. It seemed to be smaller than a robin, but larger and slimmer
than a junco. No wing stripes. It was silent while I watched it. I've spent
two days studying Stokes and National Wildlife Federation field guides also
ebird and Cornell lab web sites, Abert's Towhee is the best match. I have
not seen it in my later visits to Lowell Ponds, but maybe the rest of you
can keep an eye out.
