Yesterday, Saturday 2/18, Chatfield was almost 0% open water, so we went to South Platte Reservoir (not sure if that's Arapahoe or Jeffco).
81 Ring-necked Ducks, 18 Common Merganser A half-dozen Hooded Merganser 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER 15-20 Ring-billed Gulls A couple of Bufflehead and Goldeneye. Walking the Mary Carter bike trail North from there, ponds were mostly frozen except the 1st on the right near the rest rooms, with the fishing deck. Here saw 20-25 Lesser Scaup, 6 Hoodies, many Shovelers. Along the trail were 2 juv. Red-tailed Hawks, also 1 ad. and 1 juv. Bald Eagle.
