Observation start time: 07:30:00
Observation end time: 13:30:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Carol Cwiklinski

Observers: Steve Ryder , Steve Small

Visitors:
Thanks very much to Steve and Steve for help spotting and identifying
raptors today. A couple people stopped on the ridge, but visitor numbers
have decreased since our Hawk Watch sign melted in the fire.

Weather:
The day started out great, with good cloud cover and a nice flow of
migrants. After 0900 MST cloud cover increased even more and the flight
stopped. Our usual search methods in a cloudy sky produced no migrants for
several hours. The winds increased from the west after 1300 and became too
strong to continue counting. The winds were highly variable and might
explain the lack of migrant movement.

Raptor Observations:
We had a good push of migrating raptors near the ridge early, some were
high but easily seen and some were eye level. Four local Turkey Vultures
moved back and forth along the ridge. We had two good looks at Osprey.

Non-raptor Observations:
Passerines were fairly quiet. The rock wren was present, we saw a group of
American White Pelican, and there were hundreds of white-throated swifts
and swallows constantly moving across the sky.

Predictions:
The sun will rise in the east and set in the west.
