You could always use ocaml.

I chose to try out Python features first because its syntax style looked similar to the other programming languages I'm familiar with already.


It has a static type checker and so you don't get these kinds of run time type 
errors :)

I'm unsure when I will try out OCaml and learn it in sufficient ways. Each programming language has got its specific advantages. I hope that I can reduce further troubles with mistakes that might appear as beginner errors after a detailed review.
