Hi Roland,        IMO , persisting the view state info on the server and transparently 
(transparent for applicaton programmer ) injecting into  the page processing logic is 
a good optmization tip . ( Evan for normal ASP.net app which is meant to serve desktop 
devices also ).      Chapter 5 of the Building ASP.net server controls ( APress - Dale 
Michalk and Rob Cameron ) contains info on server control ( also page ) life cycle. By 
implementing IPostBackDataHandler and IPostBackEventHandler for each page in ur app , 
u can achieve ur objective.    One has to have a good understanding of ASP.net page 
life cycle.   One can use a Binary File , XML document to store the view state info on
