just a thought - older ( not normally as young as 8 years ) dogs can develop small skin problems or such that while basically healthy make it a bit painful to be touched ( petted )   I Have a cocker that way from about 8 years old - she is 14 now. when on medications she can be touched and is the happiest thing - without the meds she wants to be with you but not touched.    just a thought   on the other hand for pups - I can help you.   Please visit www.k9goodies.com/birdwalk for pictures of representative pups and parents as well as basic info on our cockapoos and labradoodles.
