Hi,

I wanted to share this with y'all... I had posted a couple of months
ago about my Cockapoo's whisker area staining. He has allergies, so
I've been trying different fatty acids/oils to help with itching, in
hopes that I could stop, or at least decrease his medication. His
itching has improved SOME, but what I've noticed most of all is the
staining is now going away (there's white fur growing in behind the
stained fur). What I've been adding to his diet is coconut oil
because someone had suggested it after reading an article in the
Whole Dog Journal. I bought the WDJ issue at a local pet store,
bought some extra-virgin coconut oil, and have been adding it to his
food for several weeks now. Sammy's diet consists of Canidae (with
carrots or peas or green beans thrown in sometimes). He gets 3V
capsules (omega 3 supplement/fish oil) twice a day, and now a
tablespoon twice a day of the coconut oil. I was so surprised to see
the new unstained fur growing in a couple of weeks after adding
coconut oil to his diet. It's the only thing I've changed, so that
must be it. Unless the oil is preventing the food from sticking to
his fur... although I wash his face pretty thoroughly after he eats.
Anyhow, I wanted to share this in case anyone else has had this same
issue.
