Jasmine is an 18 month old cockapoo. She has a great personality,
likes to play, and loves to be outside. Whenever we are ready to go
for a car ride she gets excited, runs around the house, and waits by
the car door. The majority of our trips are to visit family and
friends. I've heard that dogs who hate the vet and groomers are
more likely to hate car rides, but Jasmine gets so excited for every
trip, I don't think that is her problem.
As soon as we get in the car she immediately starts panting and
whimpering. She often barks at cars passing by and will bury her
head down low as she can. My wife and I have tried combinations of
either her or I holding her in our lap, putting her on the backseat
alone, and in her crate in the backseat. Everytime she gets this
way and I feel she is stressed out by the movement.
Is it possible for cockapoos, or any dogs, to have a motion sickness
problem? I feel bad putting her through these car rides, but we
hate to leave her at home when our family lives an hour away and
everyone just loves to see her.
If anyone has suggestions on dealing with this issue (and excitement
pee accidents : ) I'd love the advice.
Thank you,
Adam
