How wonderful that you found Madison!!  We bought Pepper because my husband is
100% disabled and he needed a companion to keep his spirits up.  Pepper sure
does that.  They have been inseperable since we got him, and he even sleeps
next to him at night.  We feel so blessed to have Pepper in our lives.

Subject: [cockapoo] Cockapoo dogs used in therapy and service

I was wondering if others on this forum have trained their dogs as
service or therapy dogs. When I first looked for a dog it was to
provide me with needed companionship when I had to go on disability. I
chose the cockapoo for reported hypoallergenic quality, size, and
intelligence.

I have not been disappointed on any of these points. Madison is
incredibly intuitive, moving slowly when I am having a bad day with
arthritis and alerting me (over half a dozen times now) to dangerously
low blood sugar (diabetic). I travel with him as much as possible and
have taken him through two levels of obedience at PetSmart. I am
preparing him for his good citizenship test and plan to further
certify him as a service dog for me.

With very little effort on my part, he is trained to pull on the
sleeve of a jacket, shirt, or t-shirt to help me take it off. He
started by pulling my socks off for me. First this was a game but I
have had several hand surgeries now and this little "trick" has been
very useful.

Madison is ONE AMAZING MUTT.
