Neither of my two poos are therapy dogs, but I have heard of them used for that.? The definitely have the right temperament.
For registration, check with you local humane society.? Generally, to work in a hospital, nursing home, etc. you need a Canine Good Citizenship certificate.? Testing is offered by several organizations such as the local Human Society, Breed clubs, etc.? Places like the humane society offer classes, but I have been told you can pass with a good obedience class.? Here in Pittsburgh, a local church offers the classes since they sponsor therapy dogs for nursing homes, etc. You should not have to send your dog away, I believe that is for service dogs rather then therapy dogs.
