Hi,

I have just come up with solution. I add a silence to the start of the
string. Therefore NSSpeechSynthesizer will always have something to
say.

        NSString *tempString = @"[[inpt PHON]]%[[inpt TEXT]]";
        tempString = [tempString stringByAppendingString:[inputText string]];

Regards,
Dave.
