Is there an easy way to instantiate a Cocoa panel with a gradient background?

Are there any code samples?

Is NSGradient the key? Any examples of how you hook this in with a
panel or window?

Do you mean an arbitrary background, or are you perhaps talking about textured windows (there's a window mask to get one of those)? Note that Apple kinda doesn't like textured windows anymore (hence they look kinda the same as regular windows on 10.5), and you're really generally intended to set the window's bottom border height to get a gradient fill for your bottom bar up to your bottom-most view.
