You are, in fact, using an NSTextView: the field editor. Unless your control isn't editable. If so, you are using the wrong control for the job. Fix your design (either the "no NSTextView" part or the "user can click on a hyperlink" part). More information about what exactly you're trying to accomplish will help us give more informed advice.
