I just saw an promo for the new iPad app that ABC News has - which has an animation of a spinning ball for selecting stories. Is this a new "standard" CoreAnimation filter (or something, I've never written anything for CA), where you can say give the CAFramework a matrix of images, and it will create/display the OpenGL image model for you - or is this something unique to the ABCNews app? I'm thinking the former because somehow I don't think a news program would the time to create an interface visual like that if it took a great deal of time to make (of course, it should just be tiling the images on a sphere, let OpenGL rotate it, then some basic math to figure out what the user clicked on..)
