In my application, I use Spotlight at some point to find a number of images in
a directory tree the user selects.

Now, I have one user who reports that it is not finding anything (it should
turn up all the images).
The problem seems to have to do with the directory residing on an external
share.
However, if that user searches the directory in Finder, then Spotlight does
find all the images.
Also, the user reports that the built-in screensaver can find images in that
share.

It's a standard Windows share from a Windows 7 machine. On the Mac, the user
goes to Finder, clicks on the computer name under Shared, and navigates to the
folder. (so I guess it's mounted using Samba?)
Mac OS = 10.8

My Spotlight code finds images in other (local) directories just fine.

I am pretty puzzled as to what is going on.
I did google a bit, but didn't find anything relevant to my problem.

I could post a few snippets of code here, if you think that might help.

Does anybody have an idea where I might look for a solution, or what I could
try to investigate the problem?

Best regards,
Gabriel.
