Thanks John and Ken for your responses. We have decided to implement it on server end instead of writing a serializer in Cocoon.
It turns out we are using Netscape Enterprise Server and I have not found any documentation on how to configure Netscape Enterprise Server to gzip files. The only documentation I found was on Apache site dated 1998 which mentions briefly about Netscape working on adding gzip support. I am sure by now the support is added to Netscape but I have not found any resources on the web. Any one has any experience in configuring Netscape Server for http compression or can point me to some documentation on the web? You'd have to write a serializer for each mime type to want to compress, 'cause (I don't believe that) you can run though two serializers (which convert from xml)... > But maybe you're better of using a Filter in Tomcat, so you can apply > compression to other resources easily (like svg). definately. > Ken > -- > Nicola Ken Barozzi [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > These are the days of miracle and wonder... > ...so don't cry baby, don't cry... > Paul Simon > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > From: GUNTURU, SRINIVAS [Non-Pharmacia/1000] > > > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > > > Sent: Thursday, 03 January 2002 3:22 pm > > > To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' > > > Subject: HTTP Compression > > > > > > > > > Has any body written a transformer for http compression (such > > > as gzip)?
