Please note also that, to my knowledge, this procedure applies only to using
FOP as a standalone solution, as currently the Cocoon environment uses a
different (older) XALAN/XERXES version if compared to the FOP standalone
environment.

Up to now, my colleagures and I have not succeded in embedding fonts under
Cocoon.

Any idea?

Look at the FOP website (http://xml.apache.org/fop/). They talk there about
how to add fonts to FOP and the process that you need to follow... The fact
that the font is in the system doesn't necessarily mean that the font is
available to FOP
