Hi, I am a fellow applier of Cocoon and MySQL. If you haven't solved it yet perhaps you may want to attach you mysql connection files, excerpts from the tomcat/logs.localhost*.txt for the error, versions, etc. I can look at it tomorrow morning.
I had originally modified Avalon Pool connection(still using it) to get it to work with jvm 1.4 and MySQL.
