How to write '<>' in a Cocoon query

I'm trying to add this condition to a query(already functional):
    and OBJET.OBJ_SUPPRIME <> 'O'
I couldn't even write a simple "<" (according to my book: &lt), IE 5 won't
open the file as soon as I insert the line...

Please help..
