Hi, You don't even need a webserver - you only need a servlet container that implements the Servlet 2.2 (or higher) specification. Have a look at http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/installing/index.html.
Of course you can connect your servlet engine (e.g. Tomcat) with the Apache WebServer (http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/faq.html#faq-22).
