"using Jetty" is misleading. We decided to start shipping a servlet container (never did that before) with Cocoon for quick demo purposes only. The version of Jetty that ships is stripped down and not really suitable for production but it has the benefits that it's 1) small enough to bundle in the distribution 2) easier to configure to run right out of the box because it doesn't suffer from the same jdk endorsed class loading issues that tomcat does.

To be clear: Cocoon still runs in your servlet container of
choice.  And if you like Jetty, download the full version.
